You could say Centennial Olympic Park is the heartbeat of Atlanta! Host of the 1996 Summer Olympics, Centennial Olympic Park has become the home to many popular Atlanta attractions and developments!
The Fountain of Rings keeps kids cool during the blazing summer months, Wednesday Wind Down and other concert series bring joy to our ears, and the new SkyView Atlanta Ferris Wheel gives us the best view of the city. Centennial Park is also surrounded by Georgia staples such as, The World Congress Center, The Georgia Dome, Phillips Arena, CNN Center, The Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coke, and the College Football Hall of Fame. Now here is Jessica reporting “live” from the 1996 Summer Olympics:
I was 13 when the Summer Olympics were held in Atlanta. The thing that stands out most in my mind is having a really fun day with my Dad! We saw a women’s basketball game where USA beat Japan 108 to 93. Actually, both the men’s and women’s basketball teams won the gold medal! Before the basketball game, my Dad and I spent some time in Centennial Park with families from all over the world! They had a mural for all the kids to paint together. I, of course, chose purple to paint with! Over a decade later, I still think of this great day with my Dad whenever I pass Centennial Park!
